Putnam Veterinary Clinic

We hope everyone is well and staying safe during these uncertain times.

Putnam Veterinary Clinic wanted to send out an update for our clients of our temporary schedule changes in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Our prior protocols of limited client contact as previously announced will still be in place.
The only exception to our policy of not having clients in the clinic at this time will be for end of life care. We have developed protocols to deal with this difficult time with compassion and understanding while still minimizing risks to our Doctors and staff. If you are facing this circumstance, please call to discuss the procedure with one of our staff members.

As of today, 3/24/20, our hours will be as follows:
-Monday 8-7
Tuesday- Friday 8-5
We will be closed on Saturdays until further notice.

We have reduced our hours to best conserve limited resources and also to reduce potential exposure for our staff members and clients. We apologize for any inconvenience and promise that we are doing all we can to protect our staff and clients while still providing the best care possible for your pets.

At this time we may be postponing certain office visits or elective surgeries that are not emergent or time sensitive, based on recommended protocols.
If you have a routine exam or surgery scheduled we may be calling you soon to reschedule that appointment. If you are unsure if you have an urgent matter or not, please give us a call, we’d be happy to help you.

We want to thank all of our wonderful clients for their understanding and patience during this very challenging time. We hope that these changes will only be in place for a short period of time but we will be sure to keep you updated at regular intervals.

3/18/20 Putnam Veterinary Clinic Update: Open for business as usual with the following emergency protocol:

As of 3/18/20, we have developed and put into place a concierge approach at Putnam Veterinary Clinic to prevent the potential community spread of COVID-19 and to protect all of our staff members and clients. We are currently only allowing patients (pets) inside our hospital until further notice.

If you have a large dog that cannot be transported in a crate, we ask you to drive around to the rear of our building and park in a designated client parking space.  Clients who have small animals that can be transported in a carrier can park in the front of the building. When you have arrived, please call the office at 978-887-3836 and one of our technicians will speak to you to obtain a history for your pet. Once you have spoken with one of our technicians, they will come out to meet you at the car to bring your pet inside for necessary services. Once the services are completed, the Doctor or Technician will call you to review the case.  At that time we can review your invoice and take a credit/debit, or carecredit card payment over the phone. If you are unable to pay by debit, credit or care credit, we will help to make cash or check payment arrangements. Once payment has been received, we will bring your pet and receipt out to you.

When our technician greets you and your dog in the parking lot behind our building they will put a slip lead on your dog and we will have you hold onto their collar, leash or any other personal belongings.

Surgery patients will follow the same protocol as our appointments. Surgery patients cannot come with any personal belongings.

We are unable to provide technician nail trims at this point in time due to staffing limitations. We will also not be accepting any donations of anything until further notice (towels, blankets, pet supplies, etc.)

It is still imperative that you let us know if anyone in your home is sick with any respiratory symptoms (including a cold) so that our team can prepare for that.

It is still not clear if we will be adjusting our clinic hours at this time, but we will keep you well informed. The health and safety of our clients, patients and team members is top priority for us.
